Har Ki dun Trek
Trip Overview

Har Ki Dun is situated at a height of 3633 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas. This hanging valley offers a lot of captivating explorations ranging from nature’s compassion.

Har ki Dun Trek is known for the Swargarohini

and the frozen glaciers of Jaundhar. The highlight of Har Ki Dun Trek would be the traditional villages of Sankri, Osla, Taluka, and Seema that have been culturally preserved for ages.

Har ki Dun’s other name is Valley of Gods. Har Ki Dun Trek is situated near Govind Pashu National park in North-Western Uttarakhand. It is one of the most beautiful himalayan treks in uttarakhand. Also known as “Valley of the gods”, The trails are often covered in different shades of orchids and other flowers.

Har Ki Dun Trek is the most popular trek among the tourists. Har Ki Dun Trek holds a lot of secret places to itself and that is the reason it stands out amongst all the trek.

Being rich in flora and fauna this place also gives you a beautiful attractive place of Swargarohini and Jaundhar Glacier. Which are situated in the south-east of this cradle shaped valley. Along with Har Ki Dun trek valley, you can explore the Jaundhar glacier, Borasu pass, and Morinda L.

The Har Ki Dun trek passes through some of India’s most remote villages, untouched by civilisation. The path runs through dense forest for the most part, reducing the chance of altitude adaptation and making the trek suitable for beginners and young trekkers.

To trek in the Himalayas, you first must receive approval from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF). Your trip will be made simpler by the permits. The trekkers’ permit takes 24 hours to be issued. Permits are needed because the Indian Mountaineering Foundation is the organisation that will enable you to enter a specific region of Indi.

ITINERARY

Har Ki Dun trek starts from Dehradun. On the first day of trek we will pick you up from Dehradun Railway station at 07:00am in the morning. We will drive through Mussourie to Sankri.

Sankri is a small village in Uttarkashi district, near the Himalayan foothills. This small village serves as the starting point for the famous Kedarkantha Trek, as well as many other common treks such as Har ki Dun, Rupin Pass, Bali Pass, and others.

This village, located inside the Govind wildlife sanctuary at a height of 6400 feet above sea level, is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday in the mountains or if you enjoy adventure. With wooden architecture and a spectacular view of the Himalayas, this place is culturally rich.

On the 2nd Day of Har ki Dun trek after having breakfast there will be a short drive to Taluka village. There we will begin our trek through the forest trails of Gangaad. Pauni Garaat situated at the height of 2500 m with beautiful abode offers extraordinary sceneries within the prominent mountain backdrops. Overnight Stay will be in camps directly under the magnificent stars with refreshing Campfire.

With 250 homes, Sankri is a small but lovely village. Sankri’s commerce scene consists of a few Dhabas and stores. It is the gateway to Har ki Dun trek, a picturesque valley nestled at an elevation of 1970 metres above sea level in the Tons Valley with spectacular views of the snow-capped Himalayas.

The phone signal will become weaker after Purola until Sankari, and you will not be able to receive it at the peak. So, if you have an important call to make, do so before Purola.

After breakfast, we will start the 12 km trek through the thick forests of Govind National Park. Today’s route will be a refreshing balance between steep climbs and leisure level walks. Har Ki Dun trek valley is a cradle shaped valley in the Garhwal Himalayan region. It is located on the foothills of Swargarohini Peak with scenic views of nature’s bounty.

The trail climbs to the ridge named as Kalkatti Dhar. Overnight stay will be at Kalkattiyadhaar (altitude of 2950m); above the clouds and closer to the sky!

The trek from Puani Garaat to Kalkatiyadhar is 7 kilometres long and takes about 6 hours. This trail will take you past a lovely village called Osla, which is situated at an elevation of 8800 feet above sea level. This trek is also not difficult; after Osla village, you can have a leisurely stroll. While climbing, you can see the confluence of the Ruinsara and Supin rivers. You can relax at your campsite in Kalkat.

On the 4th day, we will be trekking on completely white snow as well as grass patches, a complete contrast to the grass we had been walking from our har ki dun trek to Har Ki Doon and Jaundhar glaciers (altitude of 4300 m).

We will descend to Har Ki Dun Trek that day and again a bonfire. Enjoy a nice and hot freshly cooked dinner before going into your sleeping cocoons.

This trek is only 4 kilometres long, but it includes some steep parts. This trek will require you to cross many streams. Har-ki-Dun will take about 5 hours to enter. You can set up camp near the forest huts once you arrive at Har-ki-Dun. The view from this spot is breathtaking, and you will fall in love with it.

Our return journey to Paunigaraat you can have the same path to reach the destination. While descending, Enjoy the natural beauty and fresh energy as much as you wish as we have already started journey heading towards home.

Well, the descending Har Ki Dun trek is fun and easy, it covers 14 km and takes about 5 hours. The Last night is pretty much guaranteed in the base camp as all the co-trekkers are your best companions now and will have their own idea to have some quality time together one last night by campfire and tents. Spend your night with peace.

We will start from PauniGaraat, the rays of rising Sun will pave our way to Seema and then to Taluka. After setting foot in Seema Village, you will see the traces of the historical events that happened here. Har Ki Dun trek back to Taluka will give us abundant opportunities to take a refreshing bath in tantalizing chilled water of the many streams we cross/pass by. Overnight stay in comforting Bed of a good hotel at Sankri!

Today after having breakfast we will start our drive to Dehradun.
